5 Most Used Social Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking is the process of sharing and managing websites. This means that you search, share and manage various websites all at the same time. You can rate websites, bookmark them, share interesting content and even promote work that you like.

1. StumbleUpon
This is one of the most popular social bookmarking sites where users can rate web content including photos and videos. It allows users to create virtual communities of shared interest and helps people in sharing interesting content with each other. Users can rate websites with a simple thumbs up or thumbs down icon.

2. Digg
Unlike StumbleUpon, Digg has a voting system. Digg uses the terms, “digging” and “burying” to define its selection. There are 45,000,000 monthly unique visitors on Digg, which is what makes it a truly remarkable social bookmarking website.

3. Delicious
This site allows users to tag, store and share bookmarks. Though it is similar to StumbleUpon, it indexes and displays bookmarks differently as it allows users to tag bookmarks under the same index name.

4. Reddit
Reddit gives users an added facility. While submitting links to the actual content you can also submit self posts that have the original content in it. Now readers can vote the links as, “up” or “down. The links that get the highest number of votes gets to reach the front page of the site.

5. Yahoo Buzz
Yahoo Buzz is another social bookmarking site that highly resembles Digg. Users publish their stories and can create links to the original website for the full story.

Remember, though social bookmarking sites are very useful, they only work when you are able to create excellent content.
